Immediately across the James River from Downtown Richmond, lies this formerly neglected neighborhood. The area is fast becoming the City’s new Arts district and Miller & Associates is adding to the revitalization with the conversion of warehouse space into condominiums, the restoration of existing historic housing, and the construction of replacements for demolished structures. The project involves over 150 lots, including whole and half-city blocks and approaches 30 acres. It addition to the multi-family projects listed below, Miller & Associates has renovated or built over 35 single-family homes in the neighborhood.
Jackson Ward, one of Richmond’s most historic neighborhoods, has seen a steady decline over several decades caused in part by the loss of population and the demolition of a large number of structures. Miller & Associates, in partnership with Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Authority and Walker Row Partnership, aims to reverse that decline with the Jackson Commons project. Plans for this urban in-fill project call for 62 single-family townhouses and more than 20 multi-family dwelling units to be constructed in a manner that is sensitive to the surrounding neighborhood characteristics.
